Game Center on iPad simulator not working - then Game Center on iPad

I wonder if anyone else has had a problem with the Game Center on their iPad/iPhone simulator or is it just me??

I have been writing a game app and just today decided I would try and integrate it into Game Center. I just followed the basic instructions on Apple's own website, got the app registered with Game Center on iTunesconnect etc. and then introduced a small check in the beginning of my game to check if the user has been authenticated in the Game Center.

I am using XCode 3.2.5. I tried starting the Game Center app on my iPad simulator to check I could sign in with my Apple ID, but it kept hanging interminably. When I tried to Create a new Account, it would hang and eventually say "Game Center account services not currently available". I can use Safari to surf the web on my iPad simulator so it is not a web connectivity problem.

I am using the same router network with my iPad device - I could still sign into Game Center using my iPad and Apple ID. So I gave up trying to get the iPad simulator Game Center to work, and built my app from Xcode into the iPad device instead. The first time I started it, it popped up with the sandbox log-in into Game Center. I tried using my Apple ID (according to Apple's website, which I only read later, I wasn't supposed to do this but should have created a test account instead to use). Anyway after disconnecting my iPad, I realised that Game Center was no longer signing me in with my Apple ID. I kept getting the same problems that I had with my iPad simulator. I have NO IDEA how this could have happened.

Later on, I checked on a friend's iPhone and verified that I could still login with my Apple ID on Game Center, no problem, all my data, achievements etc. were intact.

I ended up backing up my iPad and restoring the device, and then restoring the apps on it to try and get Game Center working again, but it still hangs interminably when I try to sign in... and when I try to Create New Account, it still tells me that the services are not available.

I'm at a loss about what to do next....

Has anyone experienced this before? I don't know how the Game Center app works so I don't know how I could have accidentally corrupted the app itself when there is nothing wrong with my Apple ID login.

Any suggestions?

i have no problems... it could be a problem in the way you implemented it. apple has a sample project called GKTapper that gives a great example of how to implement
