Default Skills to develop RPG game

Hi, im a newbie (I dont know anything about programming) and I would like to make a videogame since I was little, im 17 years old and Im currently reading an introduction to c++. I would like to develop a short Zelda like 2D game for iphone, I have almost all day long to work on this, I`ve already developed a doodle jump decoy but with a tutorial so I still dont know anything (im already enrolled in apple sdk). However I would like to keep with these so my question is what do I need to know to make the rpg game (I already have the story based on many mesopotamia legends, names, map, etc in a notebook). And how many years it might take to do it (or maybe months because I have all day until next year to learn this and I know the basics of xcode and a little c++. Thank you and sorry for bad english.

i don't think anyone can tell you an exact time extimation......just depend on you.

Probably studying "full day" will take just some month....(to have something "working" but not polished or any complex thing)

My suggestion would be to start with a less complex game. Games that are too complex usually never gets finished. Especially when your a newbie and youŽre still learning. YouŽll probably realize that the code you wrote in the beginning of your project is really bad and canŽt be the base of a big game.
