Ok im going to keep it simple as I know most of you are busy. All i know how to do is create websites and use some basic basic basic html skills. I want to make the next angry birds. Now before you start telling me about the difficulty and the possiblity and all that please dont, I understand this. What I am asking is for somebody to direct me to the books I would need to read to learn how to code a game from scratch without any game salad like programs. I would also like to know where to go to learn how to make graphics like "Cut the rope". Stuff thats really cool looking and such. I want to be the next angry birds and I need to know what books to read and what steps to take. Even if it takes years I am prepared to develop the time. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
Actually, I think that Tiny Wings was developed by only one person so itīs not impossible. But I agree with heartsallgone, itīs a very unrealistic goal if youīre starting from scratch. You should start with something very basic and go from there, game programming is not easy.

Even if it takes years? You sure? YOU REALLY SURE?
How do you develop the time?
May I also ask "What" have you tried? Have you tried googling, have you tried iOS dev center. Have you tried your public resources(library, well depends on where you live). Have you tried youtube? and the list goes on.
The reason I'm not giving an direct answer is because I don't have one.
Mate, it took a big group of very experienced coders at Rovio to make Angry Birds with a Ģ70,000 budget. You will never be able to start from scratch with no experience and do it. You could get good at coding and graphics and make some decent apps, but you will never make the best selling app in the app store by yourself.
No it is possible to make it by yourself. Many people have gotten to that stage by themselves. Angry birds just happened to require more money. I have simple, yet great game ideas that wont need that much money. I jus want to know where to go to get the books to learn how to develop the game. I might pay someone to do the art but thats it. I want to learn how to develop the games myself and im looking for what books to read

Ok these are the books I went thru.
Beginning Mac Programming: Develop with Objective-C and Cocoa
Beginning iPhone 3 Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK
The first book "mac programming" is very basic to give some programming idea. There may be better books in market than these, I am not sure.
I was able to get these books in my local library, so try that.

Trying to create a successful game from the ground up is not an impossible or unreasonable prospect. Just difficult to say the least.
I am taking that road myself, and after about 18 months I am quite pleased with my progress, but still no where near producing the next Angry Birds.
I think it is always a bad start to set your ultimate goal to be the next "greatest". Just do the best you can do and satisfy yourself for starters.
Great successes usually don't think they are going to be great when they start.
They just do what they like to do and hope their efforts are well received.
Angry Birds, and Doodle Jump are unusual phenomenons that no one can predict, just like the next Star Wars.
Also consider the time factor. Most good games are produced by companies of experienced artists, not just one person. It will take you at least a year to learn the basics of programming and another year to become competent.
On the graphics side add on a couple more years.
I have some graphics abilities but am not an artist, so I find that creating graphics is more time consuming than programming.
When you consider the time it will take you to learn the proper skills to create your idea, and the time it will take to actually do it, the market will have already changed and advanced beyond the scope of your idea, and it will probably have been done a dozen times.
I find myself continually frustrated with the progress of the technology.
As soon as I learn the newest thing, its become obsolete, and a better, flashier tech is now "the thing".
I'm not trying to be discouraging, but you should keep these things in mind so as not to meet with unexpected discouragement down the road.
Just learn what you can and set realistic goals that you are comfortable with and can accomplish. Your ideas will change as you progress anyway.
Don't get too bogged down with absorbing book knowledge. Just get in and start working with the code. Think of a simple idea and create it. Then make it better. Eventually you will have an app. Master the basic things first and build on that.
Most importantly - have fun!
