Default OpenGL es 1.1 vs 2

I'm getting ready to get started with my first game project and I just wanted to get your opinion on which version of opengl to use. I believe all devices after the 3GS support v2, so I don't think I'd be alienating too many users if I went for v2. Another consideration is that I've mostly been studying v1.1, so I would need to learn what is practically a whole new system. What would you say are some pros and cons of the two versions? Which would you recommend? I appreciate your help!!!

Think you're the only one who can answer that. Is it worth learning v2 to get those devices / iOSs that are on v1.1 and do you need v2 for anything in particular? I am in a similar boat to you in that I haven't used v2 before, but I didn't need anything that OpenGL ES 2 would have given me so stuck with 1.1. Wish I went for 2 so that I learned a bit more for the future but I think this is going to come down to an individual decision.

It's a tough decision because, while I won't need v2 features for my first game, I plan on creating an engine that will be used for future games while developing the first game. As of right now I think I might start out with v1.1 and, after a few games, try my hand at v2.
