Default Need advice: Game Achievement view/pop up type?

Hi in my 2nd game im making now, i will be integrating openfeint.. hopefully.

So I would like some advice regarding the achievement pop ups. what is the best way to present it to the user while playing the game? fyi, my game is kinda fast paced (like doodle jump pace - where user need to continue playing, and unlike angry birds where user can take a time off after launching a bird)..

Which is better?

1. Just pop up a small achievement view, and auto dismiss it after 2-3 seconds.

2. Pop up the achievement view, AND at same time, PAUSE the game, require user to tap the X to dismiss and return to the game.

Im like 50/50 on this.. would like some of expert game maker's advices.

Thanks...

Definitely don't pause the game, that disturbs the flow. I do a combo of in game pop ups; very discreet, but it still gives that pavlovian feeling of accomplishment and I sum up the achievements earned at end-round.

dany_dev.. errr... sorry i didn't mention earlier that i want to do it in my non openGL game.

missing no, i get what u mean.. maybe i should just pop up the achievement window without pause, but for a longer time, like 8-10 seconds... thanks for your idea.
