Arrow Global leaderboards >.<

Im having trouble finding a good simple free global leaderboard service. I know about open fient and Agon etc... But what Im looking for is something that I can use in a custom list that fits right in there like my local scores list.

My programmer said that he has it set up so that all I would need to arrange is an api that could receive the iphone data, store it on my server, and then send it back when the iPhone calls it.

I kind of understand this process but I have not found anything that does exaclty that. I looked into Free Online iPhone Leaderboards and its simple as heck but extremely limited. and when you load it up on the phone (in the game) it looks terrible.

Has anyone had experience with something like this that could pass on their knowledge?

If nothing simple like this exists, would anyone be interested in developing a free service along with me (i would fund it) so that others in my shoes would have something nice?

Thanks!!!

It should be fairly straight-forward for your programmer to implement it. There are a few really good tutorials online.

Here's an example of one:

Managing Local High Scores and Online Leaderboard for your iPhone Games Part 1/2 | Travis Dunn

There are many ways to approach this, depending on how elaborate you want to go.

If you're curious, check out the lite version of our game Hoops Madness. It's free so you can check it out for free. We implement Openfeint and our own leaderboards. I think we do it the way you want ... it looks and feels like our localboards. Our leaderboards are stored in a database. Some people just write the data into a textfile.

Good luck!

BTW, you can use OpenFeint simply as storage and draw your own high score tables from it.

Interesting.

does this require the user to have or create and openfeint account?

Yeah, they would have to have an account.

And their up and running.

Used google app engine with my own php.
Listing top 100 all time, monthly, weekly, and daily.

Still fine tuning it but all in all I think it will go well.
