Default in app purchase ?

hi guys. i have a question that troubles me.

if one where to develop a poker app for iphone. how would that play out in relation to apples in app purchase fee of 30%?

would a user pay 130$ to get 100$ into their poker account?

thanks for your time

Your math is wrong -- $130 would get $91 after the 30% is taken

the cost would be to the developer, not the user. so if the user has paid $130, you'd need to give him $130 in their poker account.

If you utilise credits rather than $, you'll be able to charge them $130 for 100 credits, then apply some monetary value per credit

but then when the user wishes to cash out, he would still loose 30%

you think apple would allow people to deposit money "free" to their account, and then use the in app purchase function to enroll tournaments and raked games? in that setup, apple would still get their 30% but only first when the user actually pays to enter a game?

or is it possible to forget all about an account, and add the IAP directly to the entry fee?

Gambling apps don't use in-app purchases, they require another payment mechanism (with no fee to Apple). In-app purchases can only be used for unlocking content.

I think you're going to run into problems if people are gambling with real money though. I don't think Apple would allow in-app purchases for this.
I have never released a poker app, but a few betting apps. For these we cannot take payments through Apple. Also, check the gambling laws where the app is being released and be prepared for it to be in review for a long time.
