Im a high school student and im really tech savvy and extremely good with technology in general. i taught myself how to program on the TI Calculators in math class and thought since i own a ton of apple devices and love apple, developing apps for iOS would be a great hobby, and because i have so much free time, it would also be a nice way to earn some extra cash and buy that camaro ive always wanted … my dad programmed in assembly and some other languages (none of which object oriented, that was before his time) for IBM for 9 years and is currently a network research analyst and has been in the biz for 22 years. at school im currently in a CCNA 2 year course too.I've bought a few books, read around a bit on apples tutorials, watched iTunes U videos, and even bought a mockup app for my iPhone 4s. I have 2 great ideas for apps that ive already started working on from the administration standpoint, but when i have to get down to the knitty gritty coding, i dont even know where to start and have no experience. Any suggestions from you experienced developers? care to share your stories of how you begain developing? i know some people will say give up but if u knew me ud laugh. once i have my mind set on something i dont give up. im extremely determined and focused when i have something im interested in like developing apps. except in this case, its frustating and i dont know where to start. with the calculator programming i mentioned earlier, it was very easy and straightforward and i knew all the functions. i know its totally different here and that know one really knows EVERY part of the sdk but i can accept that. i just need some tips and maybe motivating beginner stories to help. any advice?
ps, if uve read all of this through, i sincerely thank you for listening to my story.
I would suggest starting from the ADC docs/tutorials and then moving onto books. However, you've said you've already done both of those. So then I would say, keep reading, and keep going through the samples until it starts making sense. If you truly are motivated, then it will at some point.

Thanks. I had a feeling that i should finish the ADC docs before moving onto books, even if it doesnt make sense. My only question is, will it be like a 'click' where one day i finally get it, or will it be a gradual process.
Hmm. Probably a little bit of both. A lot of stuff should start gradually making sense quickly. Some things will likely seem alien until it just makes sense. Just keep at it.
If you're really serious about software development, then definitely consider studying it in college. College certainly won't make a real programmer out of you, but it will force you to learn a lot of really important computer science foundation that will serve you well in the future.
