Page-Based application modification

I have created standard Page-Based application in xCode 4.2.1
I need to change ModelController.m

It has method -

- (DataViewController *)viewControllerAtIndex:(NSUInteger)index storyboard:(UIStoryboard *)storyboard;

for each page this method create new DataViewController

DataViewController *dataViewController = [storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:@"DataViewController"];

I want to use only one DataViewController instance for all page in this application. To change method
viewControllerAtIndex like this:

    if (dataViewController == NULL) {
        dataViewController = [storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:@"DataViewController"];
 
    }
        dataViewController.dataObject = [self.pageData objectAtIndex:index];

But this does not work correctly.

You can probably structure your code to re-use your data view controller objects, but the page view controller needs to have at least 2 view controllers at the same time, so it can render the contents of both onto the front and back sides of a page while it's doing the transition. In fact, I think it might need to have up to 4 view controllers at once. One for the left and right pages of the open book, one for the back-side of the page you are turning, and one for the new page you expose by lifting a page.


Disclaimer: I haven't used a UIPageViewController yet, so I'm making educated guesses based on my understanding of how it works and a brief scan of the docs.
