I am new to iPhone development but recently had an idea regarding an app. I want to map out a complex that is not covered in detail by google maps. I want to add things like carparks, walkways, multiple locations/markers for use with the gps functions of the iPhone.
So basically I want people to be able to enter the complex, pull up an app that will display a detailed map and allow them to navigate - the app giving them directions to certain locations based on their GPS location.
Is it possible to achieve this via Google Maps OR should this be tackled from another angle?
I'd test it out then. Make a simple app that displays the current coordinates and take a walk around. See if it's distinguishable. I'd hate for you to make an app to find out the GPS is not accurate enough.

I can tell you from using Google Maps on my iPhone for any journey that i am not sure of the direction i am heading in that it isn't accurate enough. I would think that you would struggle in somewhere like a theme park that is huge. Its not just how accurate the little blue dot is that shows you where you are but also the polling rate of it, i find sometimes that it doesn't update enough and ill miss a turning, sometimes even when i am walking.
Its a great idea, and one that i think should be looked at, but i agree that you should write a simpler app to test out if it will do what you want it to do, otherwise you will end up wasting a large amount of time in development.
I believe there are certain people you can blame for the lack of accuracy in consumer GPS, but probably best not to point those sort of fingers in a public forum!!
