Picking from custom lists?

Let's say my app has its own list of images, and I would like to present them to the
user in a thumbnail grid format like UIImagePickerController.

Since UIImagePickerController doesn't allow picking from custom lists, what else can I use?
Do I have to create my own image picker?

Keep your life simple. Use a table view, and install the images as thumbnails in each cell. Then let the user select one of those cells.

Thanks, that seems to be my backup plan if I can't find anything that will give me a nice, compact grid.
