Searching through drill down table

Has apple implemented a way to search through a drill down table populated with a plist, WITHOUT using core data?

All of the search tutorials I have used have not worked, and I read in a post made in 2010 that it cant be done without core data.

Thoughts?

if you are able to load all the data into a global array or dictionary in viewDidLoad, then you should be able to "search through" the data at any point in your view controller.
