.json file from an xml file?

is it plausible to create an actual .json file directly from an .xml (or similar) file?

If so, what are some good tools/wizards for this sort of thing?

no, not with objective-C, I'm just asking this:
for a given .xml file (at a url), can you make a .json file?

You should do it server-side, and probably not starting from xml....
