Xcode error for hello world program

Hi
I have been trying to create a simple hello world iphone application, but the moment I create a new project I have an error in Xcode: target specifies product type 'com.apple.product-type.application', but there's no such product type for the 'iphonesimulator' platform. What can I do to fix this error. I also get this error:Internal error occurred while creating dependency graph: ASSERTION FAILURE in /SourceCache/DevToolsBase/DevToolsBase-1809/pbxcore/Target.subproj/PBXTargetBuildContext.m:2073

weird. id try just reinstalling xcode
