Default text of a TextField

I'm checking to make sure that a TextField which will take in a URL begins with "http://". If it does not begin with that, an alert comes up to tell the user. However, I would like to add that if they do not want to add the URL and they click "Done," then the alert should not come up.

I've tried checking to see if the text isEqual to @"", but that only works if you put the cursor in the TextField and don't type anything.

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Not quite sure I follow your issue, but from what I gather, your comparing strings. Thus have you tried to use the method isEqualToString?

Furthermore, if you would like to test that the field is blank and to continue, you can also check the strings length to ensure it is equal to 0.

Basically, I'm testing to see if the string begins with "http://" or if it is equal to "". However, if the user does not put their cursor into the URL textfield box before they click Done, it will not accept the URL. (Basically, unless they click in the box, the string is not equal to "", and I don't know why)

When you initiate the object or in the viewdidload, just set the textfield.text property to @"".
