Red face Format of animations for ebook app?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I haven't been able to find an answer to my question anywhere! Please direct me if this is the wrong place.

I'm a freelance illustrator and animator, and I'd like to get into animating an interactive ebook or children's book app. But I know NOTHING about coding. I'm assuming I'll need to eventually find a developer to help with that part of things, to make everything work together. But I want to be able to do the illustrations and animations myself, since I have that ability.

I usually use Flash or ToonBoom for my animations, which is no problem when the videos are used online or for broadcast. But I've heard the iPad and various devices don't tend to be able to play Flash.

My question is, what format do you developers usually get animations in, for you to then code into an app, when you're working with an artist? Say I have a short animation of a bunny hopping, and I want that animation to play in the book when the user taps on it. As a developer, would you want that animation in a .swf, .mov, .flv, .avi, etc? What works best as far as ebooks/apps? Does it matter?

Or am I totally wrong and it's not possible to do animations at all without knowing a ton of code, when it comes to mobile/reader apps?

I'd appreciate any insight you could give me...Google has been no help, haha!

Default

really depend of which type of animation (however swf surely no). If you need a video-intro avi is ok, if you need to animate a Player, a set of images (so multiple png in a spritesheet) is ok.....
