Default Determining When Image Loads

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if there is any way to determine when a UIImageView loads the actual picture. The reason I ask is I want to have an object that while a high resolution image loads it shows "Loading..." or something like that until the image has fully loaded.

Thanks in advance!

how many time require to load it? and how is the resolution?

maybe you should consider to use tiled images to increase performance.

Well in the long run I would like to have a master view with probably around 12 of these objects inside it and when the use taps on the object it would bring it into a full screen view of the picture. The resolution is around 210 dpi but I am not too worried on performance at this point just in if it is possible to tell when a image loads into an UIImageView.

I don't know if it is possible but is there a way to see when viewDidLoad for a UIImageView is called? If so it seems like that would be a good place to start for this.

I imagine you will run out of memory long before this becomes a problem.

Check out this project, specifically the UIImageView+WebCache category.

You could set the loading image as the placeHolder image, and it will be replaced once the image is downloaded.
