Hiding Nav and Tool Bars by double tapping

How can I make the Navigation Bar and Toolbar disappear by double tapping in the middle of the screen? The behavior would be similar to the way that the photos application makes its bars disappear when you touch anywhere on the screen.

Any ideas?

Easiest approach is to use a navigation controller, which can easily control the appearance of both the navigation bar and the tool bar.

Use a UIGestureRecognizer to watch for the double-tap.

Hide/show the bars as needed in response to that action.
