Finding out how to login to a website from an app

Hi,

I'm starting to develop a simple app that logs into Online Sports Betting | Sky Bet | Bet on Football, Horse Racing & more

and pulls some basic information from the page to display in the app.

How do I find out how this website or similar websites manage logins and then how do I send strings entered from my app to the website for authentication?

I've done this before with simple twitter apps but that was using a provided Twitter API. I'm not sure how to do it when you have to find out from scratch with a website that hasn't got a readily available API
