I tried to make a very simple application that just gets your longitude and put it in a label, It worked in the iphone simulator.
i asked my friend which has an ipod touch to test it for me, when he tried to start it up it closes once you press it.
i tried many times but it doesn't work.
here are the steps i do to get the api file please let me know if any of them is wrong.
1-build the application
2-copy the .app and put it in itunes
3-copy the .api file and paste it in the ipod touch
I'm not sure what the correct procedure is for loading apps to jailbroken devices. But does the iPod even have GPS? How is it going to get the longitude? I'm not even sure how it could work on the simulator, for the same reason.

yes the ipod has gps
and the iphone simulator has a standard location for testing the gps.
Does it work if you load it with a provisioning profile? I'm afraid I can't give you specific suggestions, I have not experience with jailbroken devices.
