Default WiFi Signal Strength

I'm building a personal (not app store) app to collect WiFi data from various places around my building. I have a map of the building, and tapping an area would record the current signal strength.

NOTE: I may not be connected to the network, but will always have its SSID (simply, "Wireless")

I know it's possible since WiFinders in the app store do it, and I want to implement this simple feature (I don't even care about connecting, etc, I just want strength)

Can anyone help me? Upon some research I found that the app store doesn't like this sort of stuff. That's ok, since I am not distributing it on the app store.

How can I retrieve this wifi information?

Hey Neo,
I'm looking for a similar solution. Did you find anything?
