Default To Slide or to Flip?

Hi there,

Just wondering if Apple have a preference for flipping or sliding to a new view? I know apple like apps to adhere to a common user experience, in terms of app GUI's, so curious if a view should be flipped to or slid to? It might be context based i.e. it depends on what the new view is displaying? Or maybe they dont care too much?

Cheers for any opinions,
David

A slide usually indicates a detail view, whereas a flip is a complement view—"unhiding" some settings related to the main view, for instance. Also, flips work better for views in pairs (obviously). If in doubt, read the HIG. Then, use a flip. :P
