Splash Screen Not Working

How can i use a splash screen on iOS 4 as it is not working properly.

I am using the sleep function :

sleep(2);

which has worked on every other sdk apart from iOS 4 what am i doing wrong?

Please try:

[NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:3.0];

It works for me.
