Using a TabBarController with NavigationController Tabs

Is there a way to unbind the tie with the TabBarItem button title and the View's Title or change the navigation controller's back button title w/o it affecting the title of the view?

It seems as though this is something the developer should have control over. Whether or not the titles are tied to each other or not.

I'd like to also be able to show or hide a navigation's back button even if I'm in the root view.

Cause I'm not navigating to the view its a bad spec design and I have no say in what is being designed just being paid to create it.

They want a view to have a back button that will navigate the user to a different location. The only way I've found to do this is to nest the views and navigate from the "invisible" to the view I really want and then handle the magic in there: titling and such become easy then and this isn't a problem.
