Trying to identify which controls are used ...

Hi folks, an app I am building is requiring a view layout that is similar to the iPhone contact page, the page with all of the contacts listed in what I assume is a UITableView. What I am wondering is:

1. What is the alphabetical control off to the right that allows you to jump to a specific first letter in the contact list?

2. Does anyone know of an example of how these controls work together that are available to look at?

I have seen other apps that have a similar view layout but the contact page is probably the most easily recognizable..

The index is provided through a delegate method of the table view. There is no generic control provided.

I found what looks like a good tutorial for this, after realizing it must be an 'index table view'.
