How is everyone implementing an email feature?
Hi,
I was just wondering how everyone is implementing an email feature within their own apps. Are you using the built in emailing feature on the iphone (passing an attachment through) or are you writing your own smtp client?
Thanks for any help,
Tommy

Out of curiosity how are you passing an attachment through to the Mail application?

I spoke to one of the Evangelists at Apple about this and he confirmed that currently mailto URLs are the ONLY way to send emails. Email attachments are also not supported in the URLs (even though mailto does support an attachment query). I think that's related to the nature of the sandbox environment - the mail application does not have access to your applications folders to attach anything that you specify. He also included the following statement:
"Attachments are something frequently requested but not currently available. If you can log a bug explaining your needs, and the limitations you're running into with the body URL parameter, it might help illustrate the urgency for attachment support."
Not sure if that means this will happen eventually, but I hope it does. We need to be able to attach files!

Are you talking about send emails using smtp, right? What libs do you use to do this?
Thank you

Nothing prevents you from implementing your own email client code, and connecting to your own email server.

How would you go about sending text messages/emails to users from the address book?
