Default way to tie corelocation into custom map

I have corelocation working, where it is giving me the current coordinates. What im wanting to do is use a custom map and have it display location on this map. I'm thinking that i will have to pass atleast the gps coordinates of corners of the map and i'm hoping that there is a function to do the rest. is this possible? or am i wishing for a little to much, thanks for any assistance.

This is the correct approach. You'll need to take mercator projection into account as well to convert geocodes to X/Y coordinates.

There should be good resources on the 'net for doing something like this.
