Seems time has been increasing for approvals in my experience. Had been 2 days almost like clockwork for submissions and updates. Previous update ran 4 days. Just had one run 7 days ( and have 2 outstanding - 1 submission, 1 update ) that are coming up on 6-7 days too.

I pushed my first app up for approval on February 9th, and it was just published yesterday on the 16th. So, 7 days to get published. Not too bad, but it was heck waiting. I'll post back when I push my first update on how long it took.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience with faster response or delays on accepting an app if you have submitted most of the details weeks before uploading the binary? I'm curious to know if this reserves a spot in the queue for you, or if you don't officially enter it until the binary is uploaded... Just impatient I guess

I had done this on advice read here and elsewhere that I could hold onto my app name, since I'd already had my first choice taken earlier in development and didn't want any surprises in the home stretch.

It'd be nice if Apple had several little stages instead of just "in review". You know, so that you could have some confirmation that your app was actually being looked at!

Default Hi

Hi, Like you, my first choice name was taken so I had to fill in the form and reserve my newly chosen name, and just like you, my app was submitted at the weekend, so we'll have to wait and see!

My app is called MySongbook, and it's an app for finding and displaying song's chords (songs lyrics with their chords, and not like the many apps that show how to play chords).

Can you tell us why it got rejected the first time? A bug? Or secret Apple criteria?

Yep, I guess that's it then. We'll wait together... Hopefully we can learn something useful about the queue process to pass on!

Gah, I wish I'd get approved soon. Nobody told me how horrible the wait would be! All I can do is check my e-mail and refresh iTunes connect every 10 minutes... Why Apple, why?
Thanks so much Let me me know when you're approved!! I was the same way, then when I finally got the approved email, it took another hour or so to show up in the app store. That anticipation was the worst part for me!

GL, and thanks!

Reserve a name? I'm confused. I submitted my app on the 10th and at that point, no app existed with my name. Lo, several days later an app was in the store with the same name I had chosen. I resubmitted with a new name, I guess blowing myself backwards in the queue, although it still shows a submission date of the 10th.

Plus I just saw a thread in the dev center where a Cupertino person said there was no check for duplicate names. Don't have the link, sorry.

My 'new' app got knocked back again... for the fifth time. This time "because it uses a standard "ContactAdd" button for an action which is not its intended purpose".

It seems they test the app until they find the first fault, then they knock it back, so there may still be an issue I am unaware of. The frustrating thing is that my other App, Traffic Watch, uses exactly the same element in exactly the same way, only it was approved 12 hours earlier.

I'm getting increasingly frustrated over this, I first submitted the app on 6-Jan.

Oh well, another minor code change, and another 7 - 10 day wait...

In short: iPhone Human Interface Guidelines...
I forgot to check if the internet connection is active in my mini browser, and didn't notify the user that the feature can not be used at that state.

WHAT??!!!?

Oh boy that could come back to bite me. I put in a webview that shows local HTML content in my app bundle, essentially help and credits for my game. At the last minute before submitting I decided to add a link to my forums in that local HTML... I do no network connection checking

The only thing that might save me is the fact that I hand off the forum URL so that Safari will open it rather than the webview. And I assume that will do the correct checking for me as it opens.

Must... resist... urge... to... reject... binary!

My latest App has my third choice name, because the first two were already taken. As I was entering the details to submit, I entered the name on the first page, and when I submitted those details it did a name check. A simple piece of AJAX code on the App Name field could help out a lot...

Edit...
I just received a knock back on this app because I infringed an Apple Copyrighted image. I have a collage of about 20 images, and a head shot of Steve Jobs appears in the collage - they didn't specify which image caused the problem, but I assume it is this one.

You should be okay, don't reject if you have been waiting for a while..

Default AppStore Approval exp sharing

Hi All,
With this post, I just want to share my experience using the itunesconnect and the Apple Approval process.

We've developed an application called 'eklaireur' and have submitted this application to iTunesconnect on the December 8th. This application is made for the french market, but we made an English version to help Apple reviewer. This application use a client/server mode so we were able to monitor the review done by Apple.

4/5 days after submission, Apple tried the application 2 times. The first time only 5 minutes and the second time 1 Hours.

After the second trial, we receive a mail where it was said that the validation will request more time.

From the 8th december to the 5th feb we have called the support everyday => for nothing as there is no communication between the support and the validation team.

We post a new version of the app by rejecting the Binary, it seems to make thing going on. In fact, on the 5th feb, the application was rejected 'Internet connection is not checked !'

We've post a new version of the application on the 9th feb, Apple tried the application 2 times.

I know that Apple people are very busy, but it becomes to be a nightmare !
I hope we will not have to wait 2 months more !

Submitted on the 9th. Apple used it 4 times 2 days ago. No word yet however.

Am waiting for the dreaded 'your app is taking longer.....' mail.

yonnage, I think you're right. I decided to go out for a couple of beers and forget about it last night.

I'm a bit nervous about it because there's a number of people are waiting to buy now... the preview I got at touchArcade brought my pageviews to 10x previous rates, and the trailer I put out received about 2500 views so far... If the timetables are any indication here I guess I should expect a thumbs up or down sometime between now and this Friday.

vbesson, I really feel for you. You're made of stronger stuff than I am having to wait that long and still no approval! Apple definitely needs to make the review process more transparent for developers (among many other app store flaws they need to fix ).

Default Follow up to app submission

Original submission Jan. 14
First response from Apple - Feb 13.

It took 30 days for Apple to respond back with..."remove the '&' in our app name". We have obliged and resubmitted and we wait...4 more days and counting.

Default 6 days and 7 days respectively

I think the longer wait times for people may have something to do with the complexity of the app. My apps were both very simple. Int he first case it was exactly 6 days from the evening I submitted it to the day it went on sale.

My new app just went live after 7 days. I submitted it last Thursday evening; today is the 18th, a Wednesday, and it was approved around noon, but it did not show up until a few moments ago in the store, so a 4 hour wait time.

Please take a look at it...it's the iFart killer! I give you...
iSnot!!! It's Snot for Everyone!
Go Here to get it! Maybe review too, but be gentle...

There's an app called "Shake & Spell". Are ampersands suddenly not allowed in app names? Uh-oh... Are only alpha-numberics allowed? Anyone know?

Just got my first one rejected, not checking for internet connection before calling webservice, got 3 more in review. Took all of 2 minutes to fix and had another binary uploaded in under 5. Now to start the wait again.

Dammit

I got rejected on Monday because my small and large icons were different. I quickly fixed it and resubmitted, and I'm still waiting. Frustrating.

I wonder if Apple looks at the incoming apps and prioritizes them based on what they think the appstore currently needs. It's crazy that some people get approved in 4 days, and others can take a month.
