Default New to app ads and wondering where the best location for them is

Hello,

I am new to using ads on apps and was looking through my choices and settled on AdMob. I was wondering though if it is better to place the ad on the menu, main app screen or on the top most layer of the app so that it always shows. I figure that if I place the ads on the menu I will get more impressions correct? But if the add auto refreshes its self then it would be better to place it on the top most layer I figure. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

With AdMob the default refresh is 60 seconds, which you can modify. It depends on where you want people to see your adds, if you want them to be on every view then I would do the top layer idea you suggested. If you only want them on the menu then they will only be seen on the menu and if people don't spend much time on the menu they may never see/click on your ads. You don't get paid for impressions you get paid for clicks, but then again you don't want to annoy people who use your app!

Your welcome I use admob as well in one of my apps, and I have it set to refresh every 15 seconds, and it is on the only view in the app so in theory it should always be getting impressions.

You should always use more than one ad network to maximize your revenue from ad nets. Be it through .app/ads, AdWhirl, TapJoy, Mobclix, et al., you will see a noticable increase in ad revenue by being able to choose which networks give you the highest eCPM.
