Anyone else seeing changes in App Store search results?
Hi,
I had a client say that their apps are no longer showing up during a app store search. So I checked and indeed even if the name of their apps are typed in, they are no longer being found in the search.
As for the keyword search, they have several apps with the same keywords and less than half of them are being found with the keywords. Tt should be all of them.
Just wondering if Apple changed searches not to search the app name and to limit keywords or do we need to contact iTunes Store about this?

Ok, I did something else - I searched the client's official app store distribution name and it does not show all of their apps either. Missing about 1/3 of them. So something is up.
Anyone have a clue?
Those with more than one app, try a search of your official distribution name or the app name exactly and see what you get.
I emailed Apple to see if they can shed any light on the subject. What is interesting is this - it is deleting apps that were not updated in the last 3 months.
Are you seeing something similar? Is it not showing an app that was not updated say within the last 12 weeks?
I have 8 apps in the store, or i did last night. Around 8 pm I submitted a new app for review and then one by one my apps started disappearing from the App Store! The odd thing is if you search for my company name only 2 apps appear but then if you click on the one app then from its page click the Developer link at the top of the page all my apps appear. but you can't find them using keywords or even searching for them by their app names!

You are right. I just did another search under name and another few apps are "gone." So it is "deleting" apps slowly over time in the searches. Out of several apps, it now only finds 1 app.
My apps have also dissapeared of any search by keyword, app name or developer name and in any country.
I am having the same issue. I am so mad since I paid for advertising for the past week and will have no results from it since no one can find my app in the search the past 2 days.

It works for me. I looked up each of my apps and they all popped up and then I looked up my name on there and it showed all my apps.

Even though one of my two apps does not show in any search, both apps are still there if you follow a link to the specific app and bypass the whole search process. So if you have a promotion website that has links to your apps, those links will probably still work. The only thing that won't work is if potential customers try to find the app by searching on your company name or the name of the app.

Agreed. Client can still find app via links or clicking on the developer name link on the bottom of the iTunes description page. So it is definitely a search issue.
Again, everyone for looking at this. I thought I was nuts for a while there yesterday. The client was probably thinking I messed up on something. They see this thread and all is quiet now; no more complaining.
I just updated the description for one of my MIA apps and using the round about way I described earlier I found that my description change did take. Still cant find the app by searching for it.
One of my apps has sat in the same position when you search for its keyword for months and now it's not there at all.

I say we have confirmed an issue is up. Apple has to know about this, so we pretty much have to sit tight until they solve it.
Seems to be fixed now, at least for me. I did send Apple a note about it earlier today.
I think Apple got 1000's of notes.
With 160K apps, searches really are the only way people find the app they heard about from a friend.
Alls well that ends well. Plus we should not complain too much. For $99, we get a fully supported SDK, and 30% revenue gets us we get full server storage and distribution, payment, and accounting services for our apps. A very good deal.
