well, I had "finally" completed the process of installing my app on an iTouch, and seeing that it worked I decided to adventure myself and see if I could sync music from a diferent computer and still use it as a testing device with my work computer. When I conected it to the other computer it warned "it can only be synced with one computer" so I thought, ok, anything fails and I restore and that's it. Well, it didn't work.
It did connect with the other computer and synced the music, but when tested with the main computer, it gives the error : 0xE800003A .
So I restored the iTouch (in the main computer) and tried again, but it still doesn't work! and gives the same error. Anyone knows what I should do?
- iTunes 8
- xCode for 2.1
- firmware on iTouch 2.1
Reply to myself.
Well, the problem was in the configuration of the provisioning files. I had two, one for each device. I had the "default" option selected, but somehow it seems that they interfered with each other.
The solution was to select the correct provisioning file for the device. It now works perfect.
I guess the best solution would be to make a single provisioning file for all the devices, the thing is that I hardly understand what certificates/provisioning files/ad hoc means. I've read the instructions pdf but still don't understand how to test on a device that is not synced to my main computer
Create a Ad Hoc distribution profile (and entitlement and a distribution certificate) to use on other devices. This will require getting ID's of the other devices and entering them into the portal.
They've recently updated some of the docs (in the last week) so it may be clearer now.
