limiting number of .... (from simple rss reader)

Ok.. So in the tutorial that almost everyone has read.. Simple RSS Reader.

How would you limit the number of stories that the reader loads into the view?

I'm having a problem as the feed I'm pulling has over 100 stories, and I'm also loading images, this is killing me on device..

I'd like to drop it to a static 50 stories.. No idea where to even begin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
