Default Display a semi-transparent UIView for 2 sec?

Hi all ! Noob question: how do we display a semi-transparent UIView for 2 sec exactly for progress status purposes ?

Well, yes and no. This part I got it already... now I ned to show the same kind of window but for 2 seconds only (user configurable value anyway)... This would be a way of showing the user the result of its actions in pushing switches...
