Turning off Auto Focus on 3GS?

I was creating a app that uses the iphone camera, however I just got a 3GS and its camera has a built in auto focus which puts a blue target square on the screen about every few seconds and lets the user to target where to focus in the image! should be great for everyone trying to do barcode scanning but not so much for my app!

Anyone know how to turn it off?
