Hi,
I am getting a few reports of developers who try to find a method of restricting downloads of their 3.0 based app to only devices of a certain type. One example was an app that uses the microphone, which is not available on iTouch first gen.
Apple changed this abruptly on the submission site. Now if you "Add New Application" you get a box "Choose your device type for users running iPhone OS 2.2.1 and below." When I checked yesterday this was not there (I think).
I get the impression that Apple chose to make 3.0 apps downloadable also be iTouch 1st gen users who have the software update, regardless if their hardware is sufficient.
I am researching any official statement, but cannot find any. What do you know about this?
