Default Record audio Output

For a few weeks now I've been trying to figure out how to record audio output.
I thought I had it working through looking at sample code but it turned out I was actually recording input via the mic. Lots of music apps (such as Band or piano/guitar apps) allow you to record what you are playing. This is what I want to achieve. I am playing my sounds using AVAudioPlayer instances. I am currently recording audio input (via mic)using AVAudioRecorder. Could any explain to me how to record the output of the AVAudioPlayers like in the other apps I have pointed out.

Thanks very much.

Did any of you figure this out? There's a lot of music application that record their output to caf, wav, m4a, etc. I'm looking for a solution as well.
