From the XCode documentation:
"Xcode 3.2 requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.2 or later."

This is the only line that is there that indicates the system requirements.

Hence I went to the page that indicates Mac OSX requirements.

Apple - Mac OS X Snow Leopard - Technical specifications

In this link they have indicated:

Developer tools
require 1GB of memory and an additional 3GB of available disk space.

Hence I think any mac machine with 1 GB of memory is enough to run developer tools like XCode and IPhone SDK.

I ran XCode for almost a year on a 1GB machine, and it was OK. Instruments was slow and pokey. 2GB is really nice though, so up the memory if you can.

Default plz help

hi all,

plz help.
i wanna start develop iphone app. i can get very chip, almost free, this model:
APPLE MAC MINI - Power PC G4 1,25 GHz 1 GB RAM,40gb hard

Can I develop app for iphone on that mac mini.

things I collect from internet about system requirements:

OS X 10.5 Leopard sys req :
876mhz , 512mb ram, 9gb hd

x-code sys req:
OS X 10.5 Leopard, 1gb ram , 3gb hd

cocoa framework works on any osx 10., just like openGL

so basicly this is good mac for develop app for iphones.only this is power pc g4 not intel or dual core.

few questions?
1. will all necessary things for developing(like compiling code, working with IDE, sdk, openGL itd.) run slow or normal?

2.can I at start using leopard os x and all appl for developing for free, and when I develop any app for store than buy license?

any tips for starting

regards and tnx.

No - you must have an Intel mac running SnowLeopard (i.e. 10.6) to use the new iOS 4.

You can develop with a 1GB mac mini, as I am doing, but it's very slow if you need to do anything else at the same time. I'd get at least 2GB ram if you can.

Post another hardware question

Hello there,
I'm just about to start some development for the iPhone 4 in my private time and I'm thinking about buying an old mac mini from our company's designer here.
It's quite old, from 2006 but it's got an intel equipment inside.
macmini1.1 with Intel Core Duo 1.66 GHz and RAM boosted to 2GB.

So I think it should be sufficient for development. On a list in the web I saw that Snow Leopard would run on it, but that it would have no 64bit support and hardware acceleration for some video codecs.
So before I buy it right now, could someone from the userbase here please give me a final "GO" signal, that development should be ok with it and that lack of 64bit is not a problem now (and maybe in foreseeable future)?

That'd be great - looking forward to participating in this forum in the future.
Thanks!

Default quad core vs dual core

hello all

a quick question:

i am about to step into mac world for some iphone/ipad app development. i went to the apple store yesterday to look at hardware and prices. i'll probably get a mac book and i have mostly been considering the base 13-in model...mostly because of the price. The salesperson was saying i should really consider a quad core machine but the price is really more than i want to spend. 1799 is pretty steep

my question...from what i read the dual core should be sufficient but i wonder would the quad core really be noticably more bang for the buck. would it be enough to go with the dual core 2.3 ghz? hpw about the dual core 2.7 ghz?....or would it really worth another $600 to step up to a quad core?

thanks in advance
