Default MPMusicPlayerController volume question

I'm not set up yet to dev 3.0 but I need to plan a feature;

Does anyone know whether if my app creates eg.
MPMusicPlayerController *myPlayerController = [MPMusicPlayerController applicationMusicPlayer];

Then adjustments to the volume eg.
myPlayerController.volume = 0.5f;

would be independent of the master volume for the device?
Use case: my app is playing music with myPlayerController but needs to interject a sound notification to the user so it dips the player volume while leaving the other volume alone...

In comparison, would
MPMusicPlayerController *myPlayerController = [MPMusicPlayerController iPodMusicPlayer];

return a playercontroller instance where volume adjustments would be to the device master volume, similar to the way the player works now?

thanks

No one knows anything about this? It says nothing in the docs. I'm going to have to set up 3.0 including upgrading my only testing device to 3.0 to find if it works the way I think it does? I'm trying to release an app for 2.2 soon so I'd really not like to be in a position where I can't test 2.2 on my device.

very little. I have this posted on devforums.apple.com and noone has answered there either. I think technically we shouldn't be talking about this here as its under NDA. There is an iphone 3.0 forum there and I did find a post that is basically asking the same thing, but that developer is actually using 3.0 and is trying to duck the volume using iPodMusicPlayer and finding that it ducks his app's volume as well. They didn't say whether they had tried applictionMusicPlayer.

this thread is in the 3.0 confidential forum
