I have just written a complex app, for which I purchased a iTouch (which I dropped before use and smashed the screen BUMMER) to test it on. I guessed that it would completely lock/reformat the device, but did not.
Question is can I use my own iPhone for testing without affecting my normal iTunes, and bought apps?
I only want to test on OS 2.2.1, not OS3, etc. I know how to register the device and install and all that, just wondered how safe it is to do?

If the touch already has OS 2.0 or greater, you're good to go. If you have to upgrade it from 1.0 to 2.x first, you'll have to reload your music. Contacts, apps, and other data should be restored automatically after the firmware upgrade (assuming they were backed up to this Mac begin with.)
