Default Nicely centered "Loading" spinner (activity indicator) ?

This is driving me crazy: How do you create a nicely centered "Loading..." activity indicator as shown in the iTunes application when it's first launched?

I'm pretty sure it's a UIActivityIndicatorView with a simple UILabel, but I can't seem to get the spinner to align properly with the text, and get both to align centered in the parent view.

Does anyone have a code snippet that works for this?

The trick here was figuring out the actual height of the view in which the activity indicator is embedded, in order to center it properly. This was made problematic by the fact that the view had both a navigation title bar and a tab view bar at the bottom.

I ended up calculating a "content area frame" by subtracting out the height of the nav bar and title bar from the main content view.

Yes, I've been trying to figure out how to get a nicely centered activity indicator with a tab bar controller view setup also. Any code would be helpful, thanks.

Hi,

I did a short example how you can create a custom activity indicator and show it on your current view. Maybe the tutorial and code snippets here will help you in any way.

Cheers,
Andreas
