With WWDC 2009 in the not too distant future, I'd like to get some discussion going about it. I'd like to attend myself but the chances are slim. With a new baby coming into my family in July, I just don't think I'll have enough vacation time to be away from work. That and the price tag, are major barriers for me right now. So, if anyone wants to sponsor iPhone Dev SDK for the event, I'm listening.

So, who's planning on being there this year?
Would love to go but the cost to me for taking time off, flights from the UK, accommodation etc are prohibitive.
I'd like to go, but tickets are so expensive. Last year they were $1595 for a single or $1276 each if you bought them in a 5-pack. Add the plane ticket, hotel, rental car and I'm looking at $2500 for the weekend. Is it worth it if your company's not paying for it? Anyone who went last year have an opinion?
I've also been thinking about it myself but like most people said, unless your sponsored by a business, its really expensive. They are selling the videos from last year for $500 and probably will do the same this year. I still think thats expensive but at least its not 1500
Talking about WWDC09 , one bad personal experience from WWDC08 which i would like to share is that be very careful about the badge they issue at time of registration and make sure you dont lose it.
They just refuse to issue a new badge if you lose it which i think is very unfair.
They expect someone who paid 1000$ + air fare to just leave the conference because they lost their badge. The registration staff was not ready to help at all. The reason they gave me for not been able to issue a replacement badge was because someone else could use the badge I had lost. I think they should have used smart card enabled badges like some other tech conferences have (Example MEDC07 Microsoft) so that if a badge is lost it can be remotely disabled.
Hope WWDC09 improves on this aspect of the registration process.

IBM Lotusphere uses RFID's in every badge, but that was just for statistics actually. There was no control at the gates which would be rather hard with so many sessions in multiple buildings I assume.

At ESC08 they used RFID to identify if you were eligible to enter one of their sessions, as well as allowing vendors to scan them for your contact information in the event that you wanted more information. Great use of the technology.
I will definitely be attending this year! It's been on my calendar since I missed wwdc08. It'd be nice to have a iphonedevsdk meetup (wonder how many will attend?)
If you purchase by April 24th, the cost is $1295 (then it goes up to last year's price, $1595).
