iPhone Maps, Need help

Hi everyone.

I need an advice.

I have recently started learning objective c, and for the coming semester I've selected to make an google maps based navigation application(with all the features as the current iphone maps app) as my project. I just want to know how tough is it ? Can it done using the Mapkit API which apple had announced quite a while ago? And if not, what will I need to make a Maps application .Right now I am just at the Foundation Framework, learning the basics. I really want to make this app on my own.

Please reply soon, Any advice is helpful.

Look at the WorldCities sample code. It may be helpful to you

WorldCities sample code is just the cities, with MapKit.

My biggest trouble is to find routes, which the MapKit API won't allow.

So I am planning on to use "Cloudmade" maps.

Sure Harshit, that'll be fun.

I am planning on to use cloudmade maps, because google maps won't allow to store the maps on to the phone, also the MapKit API doesn't allow searching for routes.
