The Mobile Technical Architect provides technical leadership throughout the lifecycle of a project, with specific focus on designing, developing, and deploying robust and scalable mobile system/software solutions that will integrate a variety of web and consumer mobile products at Lowe’s. The Mobile Technical Architect is responsible for translating the client's mobile/wireless business requirements into specific system, application or process designs. The architect role will require a significant knowledge across multiple mobility platforms, processes or architectures, as well as broad knowledge of new technologies and device architectures. The architect will be required to align and partner with Lowe’s Program Management Office and IT solution delivery teams on project prioritization, project plans, roadmap development and overall support of Lowe’s mobility solutions. The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience in architecting web and mobile infrastructure systems.
In general, the Technical Architect is a skilled specialist with knowledge and expertise for a specific IT architecture area. Under the guidance of the Senior Technical Architect, they facilitate the establishment and implementation of best practices, implementation patterns and hundreds technical standards that guide the design of business and technology solutions. They are responsible for providing consulting within their field of expertise to the solution and portfolio architects who manage the millions of dollars that is spent on the technical architecture elements of the solution design. The technical architect is familiar with a variety of the concepts, practices, and procedures within their field of expertise and relies on their extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. They are responsible for mentoring other technical professionals who rely on their expertise in their area. They are responsible for documenting the current state of Lowe’s technical architecture and collaborate with Enterprise and Portfolio Architects to develop the future state architectures, proactively driving technology roadmap development, and assuring the adoption of standards throughout Lowe’s. The architect works with the solution architect to ensure the development of the conceptual and logical architectures required for business solution delivery. The position provides guidance to ensure architecture goals and alignment to the future state are readily achieved.
Responsibilities:
• Implement mobile architecture, visualization and development processes
• Utilize deep understanding of one or more Mobility Solutions to make appropriate decisions
• Demonstrated experience with market analysis, ROI, ROA, electronic commerce, (Internet based business) and being able to communicate impacts of the Internet and Mobile technologies on traditional business
• Analyze enterprise business context (trends and business strategy) to derive mobile technical architecture future state requirements.
• Analyze the current mobile technical architecture environment at Lowe’s to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
• Analyze Mobile technology industry and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.
• Define the principles that guide Lowe’s technical architecture decisions for the enterprise in association with other technical architects.
• Design and lead the implementation of Lowe’s enterprise-wide Technical Architectures based on business requirements and IT strategies, as well as to rectify gaps and pain points within the current state.
• Oversee and facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations related to Lowe’s Mobile solutions.
• Document necessary technical architecture design and analysis work, possibly including project postmortem documentation and metric collection as it related to their Mobile specialization skills.
• Responsible for the definition and documentation of Lowes’s architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices
• Defines and enforces Lowe’s technical architecture standards, procedures, metrics and policies
• Drives the adoption of new technologies and development methods
• Participate in technical architecture design reviews
• Analyzes the current Lowe’s Information Technology landscape to identify weaknesses and collaborates with Lowe's IT application owners to develop improvements
• Assists in the development of technical architecture transition plans for moving from the current to the future state environment across Mobile application portfolios
• Assists in the creation of technical architecture roadmaps and retirement plans to identify the impacts to Lowe’s systems, reduce licensing costs, and ensure adherence to standard technologies
• Collaborates with both IT and business senior level leadership to influence decisions controlling millions of dollars in annual technology and business investment in Lowe’s highly leveraged technology environment.
Required Qualifications:
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• 10+ years of Information Technology experience.
• 4+ years in application architecture/enterprise architecture, systems integration and development, package implementation
• 2+ years in application architecture/enterprise architecture, systems integration and development, package implementation with specialization in designing and developing for Apple and Android mobile devices
• Solid experience in leading design and development and implementations in 1 or more mobile technology software platforms: iOS (Apple), Blackberry (RIM), Android (Google), Windows Mobile (Microsoft), Flash (Adobe)
• Ability to realize the benefits to enhancements of existing mobile application for the users in the field.
• Experience in designing, developing, and testing/debugging applications that run on mobile device platforms.
• Experience in designing, implementing and supporting enterprise level applications
• Proven and demonstrable experience architecting, designing and implementing high volume, high availability systems.
• Proven and demonstrable experience establishing and documenting standards, guidelines, and best practices.
