My app has been live for about 48 hours now. We are in the Pokemon niche but our app is not directly named that, just look at my signature below and you'll know what I'm talking about. So as we all know you can submit your keywords that are directly related to your product. Well after the 48 hours I can't find my app anywhere unless I put the exact phrase... I mean shouldn't I least come up after 60+ apps?
Maybe I'm missing something here or does it just takes time to rank for those keywords. Can someone shed some light as to how this works?
When i was very new i did a pokemon app before i the company sent me a notice to take it down. Now I believe they successfully blocked their keywords for stuff like Pokemon. So if someone searches pokemon they will not see your app on the list (unless your app does use Pokemon and is on the list then i am mistaken). But just talking from experience... your app is most likely slow is because of the pokemon company blocking you from using the keyword..
Actually I did searches for our other keywords and they are showing up, so maybe the KW Pokemon is the problem. Still I don't see how Nintendo could block a keyword from the Apple store. Maybe patience is the key here as things take time to propagate.
We tried to make our app copyright free so we hope it'll be fine from those lawyers.
World, and Cup, as two separate keywords, was 'non-approvable' last year. Even with them separated by other keywords, Apple were still picking up on it. They'll have a master list of them that flags when something's not quite up to their satisfaction.

it doesnt matter, we riddled the store with pokemon last year.. and im pretty sure the pokemon company got sick of it re-doing the notice so they asked apple to block it. Obviously u can still see some app in there, but soon enough they too will be gone and replaced other apps with the word pokemon in it.

This may be it, "Pokemon" is
a) a registered trademark
b) a completely made up word
Unlike "Minecraft" or "Facebook", which are made up of standard English words, there's no _possible_ way anyone could ever argue that they're not infringing on a trademark. Therefore it makes sense for Apple to save themselves time and effort by blocking it.
Nevertheless, it still seems strange for Apple to bow in deference to Nintendo, a company that will never release any products on its devices.

I know, I was only trying to convey to the OP that his app is probably not selling too well because his/her app is not listed in the "Pokemon" keyword that is all. Whether it is the Pokemon's company right to blacklist the keyword on iTunes is another story.
edit: my bad my engrish is bad.. so hard to understand sometimes >_<
I have a question regarding the name of your app and adding those KW's. For example our app is called Rate My Poke Plush, should I add any of those KW's when we make our lite version? Examples would be Rate My, Plush, Poke...I did a search for POKE (OUR PAID APP) and we do come up fine for that even though we did not add those ones. Just wondering what your thoughts were on this...
@InUp - if you have keywords in the name, you don't need to put them into the keyword list.
As for your original question - from what I can see only apps with Pokemon in the name appear in the results for the phrase Pokemon. There are some exceptions, but it seems that Apple is indeed blocking the phrase from KW list.
I've had a similar thing when trying to position on Moleskine - my keyword didn't work, although there were other apps positioned for the KW in the store.
