I just can't stop playing this game! *Sarcasm Off*
Apparently you don't even need screenshots these days to sell an app. Just have a cool icon and an already popular name. We've all been doing it all wrong!

Yeah, I'm off to make "Temple Hop" with a red tint for the icon..
and the perpetual question: "why would Apple allow that?".

Don't worry, it doesn't infringe trademark as he simply de-pluralised one of the words!
Apple REALLY need to start looking at the screenshots as part of the review process.
This makes me think, does anyone know if new apps are reviewed by local teams or by one big international team? If locally, you could bribe a Chinese app reviewer easier to accept your app then a reviewer from the US.
One of my new but simple app was rejected today, because it was "too simple".
Granted, the app was a translation of some arabic recitations made into a tab bar app with about 7
pages, but the content is really useful to have to a lot
of people. So fine, I added a Mecca compass function in it as well and resubmitted.
Then i came here and see all these guy uploaded a real bunch of crap with
ripped off titles and bogus 1 screenshots, AND THEY'RE ALL APPROVED??!
I was sitting in class and noticed this "game" in the #2 position. 20 min later I checked and it was #1. ugh..
Are there no laws in place that protect against blatant ripoffs of other apps? I suppose I can see how it got approved, but I think the approval team should take into consideration better judgment. I mean sure the icon is kinda "different" and its a different color and the game play is "similar" but c'mon
With only one image (not even a screenshot) in the description?
Wrong, it is now top paid overall #1 and top# 7 overall grossing in the US app store. WTF!?!
This is ridiculous beyond belief.
What do we learn:
1. App store shoppers seem to be even dumber than thought and don't give a $hit when shelling out their money.
2. If you are sitting somewhere in Russia, you can easily give a $hit about infringing on IP, trademarks, business laws and ethics etc.
3. Apple gives a $hit about these bogus apps, because they make their 30% Apple tax anyway.

Yes, there are trademark laws that have been violated here. I guess in this case the Temple Run guys either haven't noticed, don't care or haven't got round to enforcing the takedown request.
He's sitting safely somewhere in Easten Europe/Russia. However there's nothing stopping Apple taking the app down if Temple Run file an IP complaint, which happens all the time to people who make game guides.

To bad. If he lived in China he could have his office and home raided
How can you be so sure he'll get to keep the money
Because Apple do not act as arbitrator in these cases. They are legally obliged to pay him.
If the creators of Temple Run want to take him to court to demand damages for lost income then they're entitled to, but it could be a lengthy drawn out process and as I've mentioned he's likely in some safe haven in Eastern Europe where they'll find it very difficult to subpoena/prosecute him.

The fact that he made crapp doesn't bother me.. but what bothers me that he made it to #1 paid.. it means there is a way.. but how? just because "Temple Run" is so popular and people are searching it trying to find the paid version? how does one make to top?
