What kind of NUMBERS does it take to break Top-200 Free-Entertainment??
So, I pushed an update to my app and it was approved last Friday,
I got about 900 downloads Fri, 650 Sat and over a thousand yesterday.
There were thousands of user updates everyday.
I checked applyzer which shows up to 1,000 positions and I finally made the
chart at about #760 or something yesterday!
Got my answer if anyone is curious, last June 24. I set paid to free and had a huge spike, as it was dropping off, as it hit#204 that day, I had 4,691 downloads Thanks "AppAnnie.com"
So its roughly 4.5 thousand to break top-200 free/entertainment as of last June

I want to know the top 200 paid entertainment if anyone has knowledge on the current numbers please.
Top 200 paid entertainment is currently about 50-60 on a Sunday, probably 30-40 during the week.
Not sure why it matters though, top 200 in any category isn't gonna help with visibility. No one scrolls down that far except app developers looking to see if their app is ranked :-)

So when DOES category rank make a difference? Probably rank 25? (Scroll limited before clicking "more")

Personally, when I'm bored, I'll scroll through the entire top 300 of a category until I hit the bottom looking for new apps. I imagine this is not common at all though.
I imagine when you hit the top 200 it starts to make more of a difference. You get some exposure from app sites listing apps that break the top 200. Then you probably get some of the traffic that trickles down that far.
Is there any place to find out how many sales for top 10, 25, 100 etc.. for the different categories. You would think the reporting sites would be able to sample peoples data and give at least an estimate. If not it would be cool to see a sticky post that was updated with these numbers when they were available.
One of our apps is sitting comfortably around the #300 Free Entertainment in U.S. - we get daily 500 downloads mid-week. On weekends we jump up to around #250 with 1500 downloads a day.
But, as the others said - I don't think ranks matter for anything else than ego-boosting, unless it's Top 25. We've been close to that in a couple of instances, and the results weren't astounding.
