I've got an app on the app store called "chat up lines" It costs $.69 and I only get sales of around 10 a day. Which has been constant for the past few months now.
It is the most basic of apps but because of what it is it couldn't be complex.
I'm not sure whether to persevere and try to promote this app (because I haven't tried to promote it at all) or just to forget about it and carry on with my other project.
Also, I have only recently got reviews on this, both 5 stars saying the app contains some great chat up lines but a few are a bit "cheesy", I only have 2 reviews on it therefore have no average star rating, due to this fact, I believe many people won't purchase the app because it has no rating, what should I do?
Also I've recently read about apps being sold on ebay, could this be a possibility? If so what would be a rough estimate of price?
Honestly, I'd say just leave it. I mean, what are you expecting to earn out of it? 10 sales a day seems quite high considering how simple the app is.
My advice is to just move on and make a better next app.
Thanks for advice, I just thought that maybe if I put it on for free for a few days to get some reviews? Maybe if people see it has good reviews/ high star rating then i would get more downloads? And yes I am getting 10 downloads a day, I think it's because of the fact I am the only "chat up lines" out there, the rest are "pick up lines" etc. And I am the top search for "chat up lines"
Couple of hundred dollars a month for a simple app that didn't take much work? whats wrong with that? 6 months from now you'd have a good enough hourly rate for the work I expect.

Yes thats very true, I literally spent a few hours on this app, It was one on the first ideas I came up with when I first started developing , I've only been developing for a year now, literally had never picked up a mac until the christmas before last and didn't even know how apps where made let alone how to code, so I am pretty proud of what i've achieved so far.
You can also sell the app, or give it to someone else to be promoted for a share in profits. PM me your e-mail if you'd like to talk details

Hey Statusguitar - if you're interested at all in finding out how much your app could be worth, try checking out Apptopia. I'm interning there right now. It's a mobile app marketplace & they're brokering apps behind the scenes, as the product is not completed yet. Jon, a co-founder, is an awesome guy and would be glad to chat with you for a bit if you're interested in finding out more.
10 sales a day is nothing to complain about really, while it's not going to get you rich, you can work on other project and have this side income as long as it lasts

Thanks Matt, I've filled in the form about possibly selling my app and I will see what happens!
