I read this somewhere from a developer. Do you agree with this? How do you find the Apple documentation in general?
"Android documentation, which is very extensive and exposes developers to nearly everything unlike the iOS documentation that hides important aspects from developers"
I've heard the opposite, that Android Documentation comes up short. Apple Documentation is very good. Very detailed and they have extensive code samples. Coming from a Microsoft .NET world, I find iPhone developer documentation is detailed, clear, and extensive.
There is also, and more importantly, an extensive iPhone developer support group. You will not have trouble finding solutions to problems you may encounter.
I can't comment on others documentation, I feel Apple's is good, but could be improved, it may just be me but in some parts the documentation is very clear and extensive as to what an object does, the tasks it can perform and the properties it has available, other parts are very vague and can send you around in circles as to what an object does, tasks and properties etc.
For me it depends on the object, some of the newer objects that aren't seen as important as other objects kinda get left by the wayside with a bit of info to get you going into trial and error.
Apple documentation is much better than Android's. There are a lot of gaps in the android documentation and leaves a lot of questions unanswered. It has gotten better recently from what I've heard, though.
Apple's documentation is some of the best I've seen honestly, so I don't know where your developer friend got that from.
Apple's documentation is one of the best. If Apple just printed their documentation it would be the best book on iPhone development.
Android documentation is often off. Sometimes they don't keep up with the development. The only good thing about Android is that if you really need something you can dig through the source codes, discussions, comments.
