Ethnic app - could this idea pass the app store inspection?
Hi everyone, I'm brand new here, and I'm just starting to investigate the idea of developing an iPhone app. I'd appreciate it if you folks could lend your expertise and tell me if you think this concept has a shot at being approved by the app store.
The app would be a songbook for Lithuanian Americans. Super basic - a directory of classic campfire/traditional song lyrics (in the Lithuanian language), meant to be a resource for all those impromptu sing-a-longs.
Does the app store accept apps that cater to a non-English-speaking demographic?
Hey,
As beja_vu mentioned - there might be a problem with the "lack of functionality" (apple might say that this app would be better fitted as an html5) - but in your case you might tell them that the app is meant to be used where there is little coverage (campfires), hence html5 wouldn't work.
I had a very similar idea recently, but for Polish songs I'm to busy doing other projects, but perhaps I could send you content + translation for my language? PM me.
Also - campfire without alcohol? lol!

Thanks for the replies! Ha ha, I see that we have a few different ideas of what a campfire sing-a-long looks like. Looks like merlin understands my version... But yes, legibility by *impaired* persons is a must
Thanks for the tip to include 'lack of data network coverage' as a justification for this app.
A second question: Will Apple force me to track down the ancient rights-holders of these classic tunes? Or is it obscure enough to just go through?

Nah, usually they don't care (unless you're obviously stepping into somebody's grounds). There are also some campfire apps in the store already.
