Uploading a Bluetooth (LE) related App

I have been developing an app which works (via bluetooth low energy) with a device that was made by a team of engineers I know.

Our purpose is to sell this device and then upload the app related to it for free.

I guess when Apple receives one new app they first test it and decide whether to accept or reject it. However our app obviously won't work without the device we made.

Would they accept such an app?

Should be no problem, just look @ Withings - Homepage - Withings smart and connected objects i.e

i have read once, that you have send a testing device to Apple USA Cupertion or San José to let them test it with your app, and for organization reasons you will never get the device back!
